Lillard (Del) was raised on a small family farm northwest of Norwood and attended Norwood schools. His family worked a small grade C dairy operation before switching to an Angus herd in the mid seventies. After graduating high school, Del married his wife of 23 years, Mary Coday, and they began their own beef operation just a short distance from where he was raised. Del later attended OTC and MSU and has spent 25 years in industrial manufacturing.

He completed the Department of Labor apprenticeship course for Tool & Die Tradesman and is currently employed as a supervisor with the Beehler Corporation in Mountain Grove.

Del and Mary have three children. Ashley 15, Kyle, 11 and Sydney 9 who are students at Norwood Public Schools.
The family attends Highway of Holiness Church at Macomb.
